The Coloring To Relax The Mind is an Adult Coloring Book that will help you to relax. Psychologists say that activities such as coloring which immerses us in one activity helps our mind and relaxes us. We all lead very busy lives with family, work commitments, health issues and much more. There is so much going on. We neglect the one thing we should not and that is ourselves. We need to MAKE time for ourselves. When we were children (and for some of us, that was some time ago), we found enjoyment in creating art by coloring. We spent many hours hunched over our coloring books with crayons (or pencils and/or markers). Time to get back to what gives us pleasure. Time to break out the pencils and start to relax and refresh ourselves by coloring.

I have so many stories to tell about the filming of the Intertwined Souls Series Promo. So many happy memories, so many emotions that were running rampant during the filming. I wrote a journal after each day’s filming which I’ll be posting. Okay I’ll shut up now.

No Good Deed: Intertwined Souls Series, Book 5 is an historical fantasy written by Mary D. Brooks. While this is the fifth book in the Intertwined Souls Series, the author includes enough background information to enable readers to enjoy No Good Deed on its own. The story is set in the early 1950s, in the aftermath of the Second World War. Eva and Zoe Lambros have returned to Sydney, Australia, after their involvement in the resistance. Eva has learned to her surprise that she is the heir to a considerable fortune, including the Muller family industry which she will head along with her uncle. The two women have been trying to begin a family; however, Zoe has not succeeded in becoming pregnant, and adoption is becoming something they are reluctantly considering. When a freak accident at Eva’s workplace leaves her with a fractured skull and comatose, any other considerations are dropped as Zoe and the rest of their family wait for her recovery.

Mary D. Brooks’ historical fantasy, No Good Deed: Intertwined Souls Series, Book 5 is well-written, impeccably researched and absorbing. I was most impressed by the author’s ability to weave the women’s story in with the historical backdrop of the war and the Nuremberg Trials. The flowering and impact of Eva’s paranormal gifts, which have been passed along through her family for generations, is described in a sobering fashion with the past stories of her and her aunt’s electro-shock therapy sessions in German asylums for the condition, adding another grim reminder of the costs of being considered ‘different’ at that time in history. No Good Deed is a family saga that will delight fantasy and historical novel buffs alike. It’s highly recommended.

Brooks with illustrations by Lucia Nobrega. The Intertwined Souls saga is set in the mid-20th century in the aftermath of the Second World War. Zoe and Eva are a lesbian couple who have emigrated to Australia. Zoe is a talented artist who has obtained a position in the Sydney Art Gallery, where she works as a junior art restorer. While she loves the creative aspects of her work, the unwanted attentions of Sebastian Fletcher, a renowned and highly influential artist, are making her work existence a hellish and frightening experience. Zoe knows his position in the gallery means he can have her fired, and she feels helpless and vulnerable. When he traps her in a storeroom and his rough handling injures her, Eva decides to take matters into her own hands. Eva is a tall woman, who can assume a most intimidating role if necessary, even if it is completely antithetical to her genuine and unassuming nature. She will be assuming the role of Zoe’s widgie knight at the masquerade party which the gallery is holding, and Fletcher won’t be bothering Zoe anymore.

Mary D. Brooks’ historical family saga, A Widgie Knight and Zoe’s Journal: Intertwined Souls Series Shorts, Volume 1, is an illuminating exploration into the lives of Zoe and Eva, five years after their emigration from Europe. I had previously read book 5 in the Intertwined Souls Sage, No Good Deed, and appreciated seeing the two women at this earlier stage in their lives and relationships. Brooks defines the word ‘widgie’ for those readers who are not familiar with the Australian lingo of the 1950s, and Lucia Nobrega’s stylish illustrations reinforce the concept quite well. Brooks’ saga deftly points out the stresses and subterfuge that were part of the survival gear for lesbians and gays at the time, and watching Eva’s discomfort and pain as Zoe is interacting with her ‘pretend boyfriend’ Patrick was a most poignant and moving part of the story. Zoe’s Journal is a joy to read as her voice is bright and loving, and seeing life through her eyes is a illuminating experience. A Widgie Knight and Zoe’s Journal: Intertwined Souls Series Shorts, Volume 1 is highly recommended.
