Lucia Nobrega and Melissa Good Team Up For Dar and Kerry Comic Strip & Coloring Book

Yesterday we announced the addition to Lucia Nobrega to the AUSXIP Publishing author list.

Today, I’m pleased to announce that Lucia will also be creating a comic book with the fan favorite characters created by author Melissa Good. We have no title to announce just yet.

Dar Roberts and Kerry Stuart are characters written by Missy and have become favourites by so many. They feature in Missy’s Dar & Kerry fiction series published by Regal Crest Publishing.

Missy will be writing a new story set in the Dar & Kerry universe that will be turned into a comic strip by Lucia.

In addition to all of that, we will have a Dar & Kerry Coloring Book so you can relax and enjoy the artistry of Lucia Nobrega!

WHY SHOULD WE COLOR?

How does coloring help? Isn’t that just for children? Psychologist Gloria Martinez Ayala recently discussed why it’s so important for adults as well as children. She was interviewed by the Huffington Post where she said: “The relaxation that it provides lowers the activity of the amygdala, a basic part of our brain involved in controlling emotion that is affected by stress.”

So what does that mean? It means by immersing ourselves in one activity that our energies are totally focused, our brains are not focused on the things that stress us out. This is quite true. It does work.

We all lead very busy lives with work commitments, family and health issues. There is so much going on. We neglect the one thing we should not and that is ourselves. We need to MAKE time for ourselves. In between writing fiction, I color my own designs or buy coloring books geared towards adults although the children’s coloring books take me back a few years. It gives me pleasure and hours of fun!

When we were children (and for some of us, that may be some time ago), we found enjoyment in creating art by coloring. We spent many hours hunched over our coloring books with crayons (or pencils and/or markers). We found pleasure in the simple act of coloring in.

What has happened since then? We grew up. We abandoned the simple pleasure of immersing ourselves in our coloring efforts. Life has knocked us around. Okay time to get back to what makes us happy and to forget our troubles, even for a short while.

Break out your favorite coloring pencils/crayons / paints – however you want to do it, do it!

This book combined Mary’s love for history, research and my characters – it was a joy to work on and she had the unbelievable help of Lucia Nobrega who did her amazing Eva and Zoe Illustrations plus the Australian War Memorial and the New Zealand War Memorial via the The Alexander Turnball Library in Wellington, NZ. The Jewish Museum of Greece just went out of their way to help with giving me access to their material and photo archive. A researcher’s dream come true.

It’s 1942 in German Occupied Greece during World War II, and two women, one Greek, the other German must work together to help Jews escape. They have to put aside their mutual antipathy to accomplish their clandestine operation. They know that one wrong move will put an end to their lives.

In The Blood of the Greeks The Illustrated Companion is about the events written in the award-winning novel “In The Blood Of The Greeks”. Real life heroes of the Resistance, life in war-torn Greece and the Jewish fight for survival are portrayed through illustrations, images and real accounts. Part coloring book, part history book featuring Brazilian artist Lucia Nobrega’s illustrations of Eva Muller and Zoe Lambros and other characters from the novel.
